A Cincinnati man is dead after crashing his motorcycle on Route 8 in Fort Thomas Sunday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Fort Thomas paramedics and police showed up on scene for the single motorcycle crash. Police say that he was wearing a helmet and that all safety precautions were in place. He was taken to UC Hospital, but died shortly after arriving.

According to witnesses on scene, the victim of the crash was apart of a group that rides throughout the tri-state every Sunday. There were six in the motorcycle group during this ride. Some members of the group said that they ride on Route 8 once or twice a summer, so they were familiar with the uneven terrain.

Brian White was one of the riders in the group and was near the back of the pack when the crash occurred. He said that the victim hit a divot in the road and it pushed him into a guardrail. “The road is to blame. 100 percent. I’ve never seen anything like this. You’re talking about a guy that can go to a racetrack and go as fast as he wants and take corners ridiculously well. This guy knows how to handle a bike. “

White said that they were abiding by the speed limit, which is 45 miles per hour on that stretch.

Stevie Battle, is a friend of the victim and showed with his trailer to help pick up some of the riders.  “My uncle was involved in a very serious accident on this same road a few years back that almost cost him to lose his leg. This is just a very dangerous road with all the slippage and potholes.”

FTM is withholding the name of the victim until his family is notified. This story will be updated.
