Fort
Thomas has once again
received
notoriety for being one of the best
cities
in Kentucky.
Value
Penguin recently awarded Fort Thomas the #2 slot on their “10 Safest Cities in Kentucky” list. Value Penguin is a site dedicated
to
“providing
the best In-Depth Research and Interactive Tools for all your
financial decisions.”
The
site also mentions the Fort Thomas Independent School system’s
outstanding reputation. According to Value Penguin, “
Those
fortunate enough to live in Ft. Thomas enjoy one of the better school
systems in the state with Highlands High School leading the way.”

Value
Penguin takes into account four important statistics when creating
their list of safest cities: violent crimes, property crimes, police
officers, and residents per sex offender. In order to create their rankings system, they pulled information from eight different categories to create the four major criteria seen on the list. “Our study looked at eight factors and then ranked the 71 cities across each variable. We looked at murders, rapes, robberies, assaults, burglaries, thefts, number of police officers per 1,000 residents, and number of residents per registered sex offender. Once each city was ranked in their respective category we averaged the rankings across all eight variables to arrive at our final results,” said Vale Penguin.
Here’s
how Fort Thomas measured up in the four major categories:

If
you check out the entire list on Value Penguin’s site, you will also notice the monopoly
Northern Kentucky has on the top spots. Villa Hills took home the coveted #1 spot, while Edgewood came in behind Fort Thomas at #3. It’s safe to say that even if you’re not a Fort Thomas resident, Northern
Kentucky is the place to be.
