Beshear slams proposed state budget for limited emergency response funding
Gov. Andy Beshear has criticized the state budget for imposing a $25 million annual limit on “necessary government expenses” for natural disaster response, which could be exceeded in just three to four months, and for imposing an additional $4 million annual limit for state emergency wildfire response.
KY budget passes: omits teacher raises, funds NKY priority projects
A $128.4 billion two-year state budget that includes a 9% increase in base funding for K-12 education and at least $159 million in new funds for renovations at Northern Kentucky University is on its way to the governor’s desk for his signature, with provisions encouraging school districts to utilize the additional base funding for teacher and classified staff raises.
