Boone County is purchasing new snow and ice removal salt spreading equipment to replace units that have been in use for nearly two decades, officials said.
“In an effort to replace snow and ice equipment that had exceeded its useful life, the Public Works Department did budget for the purchase of three V-box salt spreaders in fiscal year ’24,” Boone County Assistant County Administrator/County Engineer Rob Franxman said. “These three spreaders will be utilized with the county’s existing fleet of large single-axle dump trucks. We’ll be replacing units that are severely deteriorated and approaching 20 years in age.”
The total cost for the salt spreaders is $91,725, with an expected delivery time frame of 60 to 90 days, Franxman said.Â
The Boone County Fiscal Court approved the purchase via a 4-0 vote.
