The Fort Wright Police Department is hosting a free internet scam awareness training this week.
The city is touting it as a way for residents to “learn how to protect yourself and your loved ones from the most common scams used by online predators through the internet, phone calls and text messages,” according to an announcement from the city.
Topics will include common scam tactics, red flags to look out for, common phone and text messaging schemes and what to do if you believe you’ve been targeted by scammers.
The event will take place on June 18 and will feature two sessions, one beginning at 10 a.m. and the other at 2 p.m. The sessions will take place at the Fort Wright City Building on Kyles Lane.
